I will give you that the right to bear arms is in the Constitution. That said, I do wish that those on the right would at least admit that this right, in our free society, does come with cost, and this tragedy is one of them.
One more thing, and I welcome responses from anyone out there who can give me an answer. I am nearly 50 and live in New York and yet I have never felt the need or the desire to own a gun. To those gunowners out there I ask, why? Why do you own guns? What do you need them for? Is owning a gun some way of asserting a masculinity you do not inherently have? Is it a replacement for some area of your body that may be smaller than average? Is it a way of projecting courage in a human being that lacks the same?

Colbert was funny. Colbert was on target. And considering the destruction that Bush and his cronies have done to this country in the last five years, destruction that only a complete moron would fail to acknowledge, the fact that some people consider his comedy rude is ridiculous.
